Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling is making his way into the world of music. Gosling is one half of the band Dead Man’s Bones which will be releasing its self-titled debut album on October 6. Gosling’s other band member is fellow actor Zach Shields.
They recorded many of the songs from the album with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. I listened to some of their music here and it sounds pretty unique. It’s weird, eclectic and immense, like a folksy church choir.
Ryan Gosling told Pitchfork Media this of this band: “You know when you’re a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it’s just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge…We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn’t been affected in that way yet.”
I’ve always liked Ryan Gosling so let’s hope he’s able to balance both music and film unlike some people.
