LINCOLN, NE. (THECOUNT) — Andrew O’Brien, of Lincoln, Nebraska, has been identified by Lincoln Police as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash on Saturday night.

O’Brien, 37, was operating a vehicle near W. Fletcher & Purple Heart Highway, in Lincoln, just before 7:00 PM on Saturday when the deadly collision occurred.

According to reports, O’Brien was traveling in a Honda Pilot at a high rate of speed when he blew through the intersection at W. Fletcher and Purple Heart Highway. The SUV continued traveling through a field and collided with a tree head-on.

First responders arrived on scene to find O’Brien unconscious suffering from severe blunt force trauma injuries.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A crash report noted that O’Brien was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the violent crash.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, reports 1011Now.

The investigation is ongoing.
