TERRYTOWN, LA. (THECOUNT) — A woman and two children are dead in Terrytown and two other children are in a hospital with critical injuries following a triple-murder Wednesday night.

Terrance Leonard, 33, who has not been officially identified as a suspect, was booked on three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, jail records show. He was also booked on obstruction of justice charges and an attachment for an outstanding warrant.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff said Leonard confessed to killing a woman, two children and critically injuring two other children.

Wednesday morning, deputies responded to a welfare check request at a Terrytown home in the 900 block of Monterey Court. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim and two children deceased inside. Two other children were transported to an area hospital and were listed in critical condition.

Forensics teams worked into the night Wednesday, gathering evidence from the brutal crime scene. Lopinto said that preliminary evidence leads investigators to believe that the victims died from blunt force trauma, reported WWLTY on Thursday.

Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday.
