BUFORD, GA. (THECOUNT) — Shannon Sancho, of Atlanta, Georgia, has been identified as the body discovered near the shoreline of Lake Lanier in Buford, Georgia on Friday.

Sancho, 30, was identified by authorities who arrived on-scene on a fisherman’s report of spotting an adult body located near the shore off Lanier Islands Parkway.

Sheriff’s officials were able to determine it was the body of a woman and located a vehicle they believe to be hers in the parking area, near where the body was found, reports accesswdun.

Around noon Friday, Booth said deputies responded to the shoreline of the lake just off Georgia 347/Lanier Islands Parkway, near a small parking lot that is close to the entrance of Lake Lanier Islands resort. A fisherman had discovered an adult’s body near the shore.

Sancho was pronounced dead at the scene. A cause of death was not provided by officials.

The body was transported to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
