LAS VEGAS, NV. (THECOUNT) — Kelvin Flowers of Las Vegas, NV, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash in the east valley area of Las Vegas Saturday morning.

Flowers, 41, was operating a vehicle on E Washington Ave & Eastern Boulevard, just before 4:10 a.m. Saturday when he collided with another vehicle, according to Metro Police.

The driver of other the vehicle, 53-year-old Stacey Frierson of Las Vegas, is expected to survive his injuries.

Frierson, who sustained serious head injuries in the violent crash, showed signs of impairment and “will likely be booked for driving under the influence and DUI resulting in death,” said a Metro spokesperson.

Flowers was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma consistent with the crash.

Frierson and Flowers collided in the intersection and the impact of the crash caused both their vehicles to crash into a brick wall, police said. Flowers was pronounced dead at the scene. Frierson was taken to University Medical Center for head injuries. His condition was previously listed as critical, but he is expected to recover. source

Speed was also considered a factor, based on the extensive damage caused by the collision, officials said.

The collision remains under investigation.
