BRISTOL, VA. (THECOUNT) — Jessica Hickman has been identified as the woman found in a vehicle slumped over on the driver’s side.

Travis Hickman, was seated on the passenger side of the car armed with a handgun, according to police.

When officers arrived at the Vance Street residence, Travis Hickman was seated in a vehicle. They issued commands to show hands, but Hickman ignored commands and shot himself instead.

Jessica Hickman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Travis Hickman was transported to an area hospital were he was later pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police are now officially calling the incident in Bristol, Virginia, a murder-suicide.

Authorities responded to 320 Vance Street Wednesday around 7:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they saw a car in the driveway with two people in the car. A woman, now identified as Jessica Hickman, was slumped over on the driver’s side of the car while a man, Travis Hickman, was seated on the passenger side of the car armed with a handgun, according to police. source

Officers said they issued commands for Travis Hickman to show them his hands, but Hickman shot himself in the head. Jessica Hickman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police that Jessica Hickman was shot by Travis Hickman prior to the arrival of police.

Authorities added there were no previous calls of Travis Hickman committing domestic violence against Jessica Hickman.
