AUSTIN, TX. (THECOUNT) — Baton Rouge Rapper, Aquantis Givens, has been identified as the man shot dead by police early Friday following a performance at Terminal 6, a bar located on East 6th Street, Austin, TX.

Givens, 21, was reportedly killed by police after they responded to a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, Givens repeatedly failed to follow officer’s commands to drop a firearm.

After repeatedly commanding Givens to drop the gun, eight officers opened fire, according to the official account. Givens was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, but he died shortly after his arrival. source

Givens was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot wounds.

He was the father to one young daughter, reports say.

Police had been at the bar earlier amid reports of a fight during was billed as a back-to-school rap concert. Family members learned of Givens’ death via social media, according to reports.

Family members described Givens as an up-and-coming rapper from Louisiana. He had performed at the Austin club before being shot dead by police.
