KANSAS CITY, MO. (THECOUNT) Kansas City police are searching for a teenage girl and the man suspected of violently abducting her from her grandfather’s home on Thursday. The grandfather was shot during the incident and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Police responded to a call of “shots fired” at a residence located at 2711 Elmwood Ave., Kansas City, MO 64128. Upon arrival, officers discovered 15-year-old girl Brajean Sledge had been kidnapped and her 60-year-old grandfather suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities later issued an Amber Alert for Sledge, who goes by multiple aliases; Brajaean Sledge, Brajean Sweeten, Bre-Shawn, Brayshawn, Brajean and Rayshawn, according to reports.

Police are hunting for a suspect described as a black male between the ages of 18-20. Police warned the man should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police believe the man arrived at the home in an attempt to remove the girl from the residence when her grandfather objected at which time he was shot by the unidentified male.

The pair then fled the scene.

“We believe she is with the shooting suspect and we believe she is also in danger,” said Kansas City police officer Jake Becchina. “They were last seen northbound from here in a 2017 KIA forte license plate MB5 G5B.” source
