BATON ROUGE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Tennessee man, Patrick Lungley, was charged with animal cruelty after killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog and then sending her a photo of the animal’s dead body.

Lungley, 36, stole his ex-girlfriend’s dog off her front porch, shot it and then sent her a text message containing photo evidence of the dead animal, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office told local reporters.

Last Friday, the unnamed woman contacted the sheriff’s office to report that her ex-boyfriend had been harassing her and threatening physical harm if she failed to break off a new relationship, according to the report.

While police were on-scene, Lungley contacted the victim and officers overheard him admit to killing her pet. He also threatened to harm the victim during the call.

Lungley later told investigators he killed the beloved animal to encourage his ex-girlfriend to leave her current boyfriend and come back to him, Louisiana authorities said in a report.

Lungley was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, stalking, harassment and theft, according to the station.
