Welk, 44, remanded herself in custody Saturday after causing a crash on Highway 27 near Orlando, said local reports.

Welk was driving her car when she rear-ended another one, smashing that one between her sedan and a tractor-trailer, according to CBS News.

Welk’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, said police. She was held on $10,000 at first, but she was arrested again on Saturday after the woman, 60, who was involved in the crash died from her injuries. source

The truck driver was unharmed in the accident.

Shiyanne Kroll, the driver of the other car, suffered minor injures. Her mother, Sandra Clarkson, died days later, on Mother’s Day.

“Our lives are changed forever,” Clarkson’s other daughter, Keonna Sciacca, told CBS.

During the scene of the accident, Welk allegedly told police that she was a distracted driver, dropping her cellphone before she crashed, the Post reported, citing information from the Florida Highway Patrol.
