INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (THECOUNT) Maurice Dunlap, the man convicted of beating Grant Redmond, the owner of Indianapolis Mexican restaurant, Acapulco Joe’s, will serve nearly 25 years in prison for the vicious assault that hospitalized Acapulco Joe’s owner Grant Redmond and left him with ongoing medical issues.

Dunlap pleaded guilty Wednesday to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated battery, theft and fraud, as well as being a habitual offender, in connection with the March assault at Acapulco Joe’s. source

Grant Redmond, the owner of Indianapolis Mexican restaurant, Acapulco Joe’s, is in critical condition after being attacked by a customer.

The attack happened around 2 p.m. at the restaurant located at 365 N Illinois St, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

Police say the suspect was on a blind date when he tried to leave without paying, aka, “dine & dash.”

The restaurant owner was trying to stop him from leaving when the customer suddenly attacked him.

Redmond was beat so badly, he is currently fighting for his life in the ICU of an area hospital. source

The Woman who was on the date with the suspect stayed behind and cooperated with police.

Investigators say they have video and a description of the suspect, but they have not released that at this time.
