The 10-year-old victim told officers he saw a party being cleaned up at one of the tables. The victim asked the Playland employee if he could have some of the leftovers from the party, and the staff member and another person said yes.

According to an affidavit, the suspect–identified as Chad Warren Sanders–told the victim he couldn’t take anything from the table and told him to put the items down.

The victim told officers he skated off, but then saw that Sanders appeared to be looking for him. The victim says he hid by the video games, but Sanders still found him.

The 10-year-old told police Sanders grabbed him by the neck for a few seconds, during which time he couldn’t breathe. The victim says Sanders then asked him for his wallet. When the boy told him he didn’t have a wallet, Sanders then took the victim’s eyeglasses, according to police.

Police say the victim had red marks on both sides of his neck consistent with being grabbed around the throat.
