Three members of hard rock band CounterFlux, were killed in a  wrong-way car crash Saturday morning. The rock group is based out of Ohio. The driver, James Pohlabeln, who caused the wrong-way crash, had been released from jail 33 hours on a separate suspected drunken driving crash.

The band member’s vehicle collided with a Pohlabeln’s vehicle that was driving on the wrong side of Interstate 75 in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Authorities say alcohol may have also played a role in the deadly crash.

The crash claimed the life of at-fault driver James Pohlabeln, 61, along with the three band members and a friend: Kyle Canter, 23, of New Carlisle; Earl Miller II, 27, of New Carlisle; Vashti Nicole Brown, 29, of Dayton; and Devin Bachmann, 26, of Huber Heights. Pohlabeln had been released from jail just 33 hours before the tragic crash. He had been incarcerated on a separate suspected drunken driving collision. “I’m sure most of you have heard by now, but for those of you who haven’t, we lost Earl, Kyle, and Devin early this morning,” wrote bassist Aleks Clayborn on the band’s Facebook page. “There’s nothing worse than losing friends, family or otherwise. These guys became like brothers to Matt and myself. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families, no parent should ever have to go through this, ever.” h/t altpress

Below is the remainder of what Clayborn had to say below.

I’m sure most of you have heard by now, but for those of you who haven’t, we lost Earl, Kyle, and Devin early this morning. There’s nothing worse than losing friends, family or otherwise. These guys became like brothers to Matt and myself. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families, no parent should ever have to go through this, ever.

These guys loved you, the fans, the friends, the family. And to honor them Matt and I have decided to finish the Album we started together. It will be a last Hoorah and one of the best things we can think of to honor our lost brothers.

Please when you’re out at the bar, whether your playing a show, checking out a show or what have you, take a designated driver if you plan to drink, or call a cab. Your actions and choices affect more than just you and though a totaled car can be replaced a life cannot.

With love,
Aleks.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased’s family and friends.
