OR Rural USPS Carrier Associate Ashley Kropf ID’d As Victim In Monday Corvallis Single-Vehicle Crash

BENTON COUNTY, OR. (THECOUNT) — Ashley Kropf, of Halsey, Oregon, has been identified as the victim in a Benton County single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

Kropf, 23, a Rural USPS Carrier Associate, was delivering mail, when her vehicle wrecked Monday afternoon near Corvallis.

According to reports, Kropf was operating a Nissan vehicle on Llewellyn Rd near Oregon 99W in Corvallis, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 2 p.m. Monday. The vehicle then entered a culvert and rolled over.

Kropf was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

OR Man Beau Yetter ID’d As Victim In Monday Night Terrebonne Fatal Head-On Crash

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR. (THECOUNT) — Beauden Michael Yetter, of Terrebonne, Oregon, has been identified as the victim killed in a two-vehicle crash in Multnomah County Monday night.

Beau Yetter, 21, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Terrebonne Monday night.

According to reports, Yetter was operating a Hyundai Accent on Highway 97 in the area of mile marker 118, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Hyundai then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Suburban.

The operator and a passenger inside the Chevy were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Yetter was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

WA Man Kevin Taylor ID’d As Victim In Friday Vancouver Fatal Motorcycle Crash

CLARK COUNTY, WA. (THECOUNT) — Kevin Taylor, of Woodland, Washington, has been identified as the victim in a single-motorcycle crash in Clark County Friday night.

Taylor, 23, was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night near Vancouver.

According to reports, Taylor was operating a motorcycle on Northeast 137th Avenue near NE 99th street in Vancouver, when the bike came into contact with a concrete slab located at the end of the roadway. The bike then burst into flames.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force and thermal injuries.

OGLE COUNTY, OR. (THECOUNT) — Law enforcement in Ogle County is reporting that a tornado touched down in Oregon, Illinois on Saturday.

There are also reports of downed trees and power lines.

Severe weather came through the Stateline on Saturday, triggering tornado warnings across the area, including in Ogle and Winnebago counties.

OR Woman Savannah Jean Nardli ID’d As Victim In Saturday Fatal DUI Crash Andrew Clements Arrested

ROSEBURG, OR. (THECOUNT) — Savannah Jean Nardli of Roseburg, Oregon, has been identified as the victim in a fatal vehicle DUII crash Saturday morning in Douglas County.

Nardli, 22, was killed early Saturday morning when an inebriated driver of a vehicle she was traveling, lost control and crashed on BML operated land in Roseburg.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Andrew Clements was operating a Honda Civic with Nardli as his passenger, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway Saturday after midnight.

The vehicle then traveled down an embankment causing it rollover multiple times near Long’s Ranch.

According to deputies, both Clements and Nardli were ejected from the vehicle during the wreck.

Nardli was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Clements suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He was later released from the hospital and taken into custody and book on DUII charges.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

MS Woman Betty Brister ID’d As Victim In Tuesday Fatal Yazoo Vehicle Crash

YAZOO COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — Betty Diane Brister of Benton, Mississippi, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Tuesday morning vehicle crash in Yazoo County.

Brister, 59, was killed Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 16 in Yazoo County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, officers responded to calls of a vehicle crash around at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday near the Big Black River.

Reports say, Brister was operating a Nissan Maxima when the vehicle came into contact with a Chevrolet Silverado.

Brister, who wearing her seatbelt at the time, was pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the violent wreck.

The male driver of the Silverado was not wearing his seatbelt and transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center with unknown injuries, reports WLBT.

OR Teen Elizabeth Shell ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Fatal Banks DUI Crash Manslaughter Suspect Talita Weltzien In Custody

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR. (THECOUNT) — Elizabeth Shell, of Hillsboro, has been identified as the victim killed in a vehicle collision just west of Banks, Oregon on Wednesday night.

Talita Weltzien, 19, also of Hillsboro, was arrested on several charges including driving under the influence of intoxicants and second-degree manslaughter.

According to reports, first responders arrived to the scene of a Banks vehicle crash on State Highway 6 around 8 p.m. near milepost 48, according to reports.

A subsequent investigation determined Weltzien was operating a Ford Fiesta when she made contact with a trailer attached to a commercial vehicle. The commercial vehicle was stopped in an active construction zone.

The collision caused the Fiesta to travel into opposing lanes and into a Ford Explorer.

Weltzien was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Shell was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Weltzien was released from the hospital and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of second-degree manslaughter, DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering, reckless endangering of a highway worker, and second-degree criminal mischief, reports KPTV.

OSP said two other individuals received minor injuries in the crash.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Banks Fire Department, Metro West Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted OSP at the crash scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

SPRINGFIELD, OR. (THECOUNT) — Randall DeWitt Simons, a former photographer of the late child beauty queen, JonBenet Ramsey, was arrested on several counts of crimes against children after a year-long investigation, according to Oregon officials.

Simons, 66, was taken into custody on July 2 in Springfield, Oregon, and charged by a grand jury for 15 counts of encouraging second-degree child sex abuse, Breitbart reported Saturday.

Simons worked as a professional photographer for the six-year-old slain beauty queen months before her 1996 unsolved murder, according to a 1998 article circulated by the Associated Press.

The Register-Guard reported that he had been suspected of using an Oregon restaurant’s WiFi system to download the pornographic images.

JonBenet Ramsey was a six-year-old beauty pageant contestant who went missing and had later been found murdered and sexually assaulted.

On December 26, 1996, Ramsey’s mother, Patsy, called the police to report her daughter missing. She also found a ransom note demanding that the family fork over $118,000 in cash.

The father, John Ramsey, discovered the child’s body hours later in a basement. She had been struck in the head, strangled, and showed signs of sexual assault.

Patsy Ramsey died of ovarian cancer when she was 49 in 2006.

The case remains unsolved to this day, and no one has been arrested in connection with JonBenet’s slaying.

Salem PD Asks For Public’s Help Locating Young Mother & Son Missing Since May 13

SALEM, OR. (THECOUNT) — Oregon mom Karissa Alyn Fretwell and her 3-year-old son Billy have not been seen or heard from since May 13. Friends describe the young mother as someone with a strong work ethic who would “never miss work.”

The family of Fretwell, 25, and son William reported them missing last week and now the Salem police are asking for the public to report any additional information on the two.

A friend who regularly babysat William said she last spoke to Fretwell on May 11 when the mother inquired about installing a security camera system at her place of residence. On May 17 the friend was supposed to watch William – but never heard back from Fretwell.

A neighbor reported to police two months ago, “We heard a man and woman arguing incredibly loud. The man was swearing a lot and there was a kid crying in the background, and the woman was yelling at him to get out of her apartment,” reports MyFox8.

Authorities aren’t releasing much information, including whether any of Fretwell’s personal belongings are missing, but a white Grand Am registered to her is still parked on the street in front of her apartment, and a green Mercury Mountaineer parked in front of it has a college financial aid application on its passenger seat that appears to have been signed by Fretwell.

Her friend says Fretwell works as an overnight security guard while studying education at Western Oregon University, and adds, “She has a strong work ethic. She’d never miss work.”

According to facebook Fretwell resides in McMinnville, Oregon, and attended Western Oregon University. She previously worked as a driver for Jimmy John’s and was a security guard and Cascade Steel Rolling Mills.

Caution Cringe Worthy: OR K9 Officer Injured After Runs Into ‘Sticky Situation’ During Search For Suspect

COOS BAY, OR. (THECOUNT) — All the training in the world could not have prepared K9 officer Odin for his run-in with a suspect Saturday in possession of thousands of tiny weapons, or porcupine “quills” as they are called.

Odin, a Coos Bay, Oregon K-9 officer, is recovering after getting stuck with more than 200 quills during a surprise encounter with a porcupine. The photos may be disturbing for some to view but the good news is Odin is expected to make a full recovery and is resting at home.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday the highly trained German Shepard was responding to the scene to hunt a suspect on Saturday when he came face to face with the unidentified porcupine.

Photos showed the aftermath with Odin’s face, including mouth and eyes, stuck with hundreds of needle sharp quills.

The search was suspended and Odin was transported code 3 to an animal hospital, where he was treated for more than two hours, reports KDVR.

Deputies said Odin is doing well and recovering at home, but the suspect and the porcupine “remain at large.”
