Angelina Jolie underwent an elective medical procedure to minimize her risk of developing cancer by having doctors remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Jolie detailed her reasoning for undergoing the elective medical procedure to a media outlet saying she had an 87% predisposed chance of developing breast cancer and a 50% chance of ovarian cancer, because she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation.
