ME Man Paul Meservey ID’d As Victim In Thursday Ellsworth Fatal Pickup Crash

ELLSWORTH, ME. (THECOUNT) — Paul Meservey, 23, of Orrington, Maine, was killed early Thursday when a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 driven by Landon Rockwell, 19, of Dedham, crashed into two homes in Ellsworth, Hancock County, Maine.

The crash occurred around 1:28 a.m. near the intersection of Bucksport Road and Surry Road, according to the Ellsworth Police Department.

According to the preliminary investigation, Rockwell was traveling eastbound on Bucksport Road approaching the intersection when he lost control of the pickup. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a residence on the opposite side of Main Street and subsequently struck a second residence.

Rockwell was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was transported by ambulance to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth before being transferred by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Meservey, who was a passenger in the pickup, sustained fatal injuries.

Meservey posted to Facebook hours before the deadly crash.

The Ellsworth Police Department was assisted by the Ellsworth Fire Department, Northern Light ambulance and the Bangor Police Department. The Hancock County District Attorney’s Office was notified of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities reconstruct the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the loss of control.

Ellsworth is a city in Hancock County in eastern Maine, about 30 miles southeast of Bangor and near the Downeast Maine coast.
