SURFSIDE BEACH, SC. (THECOUNT) — Christopher Sims, 44, of Eden, North Carolina, has been identified as the man who died Sunday after a motorcycle crash near U.S. Highway 17 Bypass in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Sims was visiting the Grand Strand area when he was involved in the motorcycle crash near the 1600 block of S Highway 17 Bypass.

Sims was transported to a hospital following the crash and later died from injuries sustained in the collision, according to the coroner’s office.
The crash occurred in Surfside Beach, a coastal community in Horry County along South Carolina’s Grand Strand, near the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. The U.S. Highway 17 Bypass is a major north-south route through the region.
The Surfside Beach Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information concerning the circumstances of the collision was immediately released.
