HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Dawn Rochelle D’Andrea, 53, of Wintersville, Ohio, has been identified as the woman killed Sunday night in a wrong-way head-on crash on U.S. Route 22 in Hanover Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
D’Andrea was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Route 22 near the Burgettstown exit shortly after 10:30 p.m. when her vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The Washington County Coroner’s Office said D’Andrea was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cortae Elder, 21, also of Wintersville, was riding in the front passenger seat of D’Andrea’s vehicle and suffered serious injuries in the crash. Police said Elder was transported by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. His condition was not immediately available.
The driver of the other vehicle, Susan R. English, 58, of East Liverpool, Ohio, also suffered serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to state police.
Investigators have not determined where D’Andrea entered Route 22 traveling in the wrong direction. The circumstances that led to the wrong-way driving remain under investigation.
The crash brought emergency crews to the highway late Sunday as authorities worked to investigate the collision and assist those injured. Volunteer firefighters from Hanover Township and Weirton, West Virginia, along with paramedics from Fort Cherry EMS, assisted Pennsylvania State Police at the scene.
Hanover Township is in southwestern Pennsylvania’s Washington County, near the Ohio and West Virginia borders. The area is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan region, with Route 22 serving as a major highway connecting communities west of Pittsburgh with the Ohio Valley.
