MADISON, TN. (THECOUNT) — Juan Resendiz, 25, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, has been identified as the motorcyclist killed Saturday night in a collision with an SUV on Gallatin Pike in Madison, a community in the Nashville metropolitan area.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said Resendiz was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center with critical injuries after he was thrown from his motorcycle in the crash. He later died from his injuries, police announced Sunday.

The collision occurred around 7:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Walton Lane. According to investigators, Resendiz was riding a 2024 Suzuki GSX on Gallatin Pike when he struck the front end of a 2025 Buick Envista that was turning at the intersection.
The driver of the Buick and a baby who was inside the SUV were both transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for evaluation. No further information about their conditions was immediately released.
A witness told police that Resendiz’s motorcycle was traveling above the posted speed limit and entered the intersection while the traffic signal was yellow.
Police had closed part of Gallatin Pike following the crash while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. The roadway was reported closed for an extended period as authorities investigated the collision.
Resendiz was initially transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in critical condition. Despite medical treatment, he died from his injuries at the hospital, according to police.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not announced any charges in connection with the crash.
Investigators have not said whether speed or the yellow traffic signal will ultimately be determined to be contributing factors. The witness account regarding the motorcycle’s speed and traffic signal is part of the preliminary investigation.
Madison is located in Davidson County in Middle Tennessee, approximately eight miles northeast of downtown Nashville. Gallatin Pike is a major roadway connecting Madison with Nashville and communities to the north.
