POLK COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Colton McMullen, of Lakeland, Florida, has been identified as the hit-and-run suspect arrested in a fatal collision Saturday night in Polk County.

McMullen, 29, was arrested after being accused of attempting to flee a fatal crash involving two other vehicles and a bicyclist in Lakeland Saturday night.

According to reports, McMullen was operating a pickup truck on US-92, when the vehicle came into contact with another vehicle around 10 p.m. Saturday. Two-miles from the initial crash, the pickup came into contact with a second vehicle. During that collision, the pickup swerved and struck a bicyclist near Old Dixie Highway.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at that scene.

The pickup truck became disabled about two miles west of Old Dixie Highway.

McMullen, who reportedly admitted to deputies that he had been drinking, faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage and leaving the scene of a crash involving death, the latter charge being a first-degree felony. Further charges are pending the toxicology results of his blood alcohol content, deputies said.

McMullen is being held at the Polk County Jail on a no-bond order.
