TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Robert Rheams has been identified as the home invasion suspect shot dead Sunday by an unidentified mother of two in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
Rheams, 51, who was out on parole after serving nearly 20 years for armed robbery, was attempting to conduct a home invasion in Hammond, when he was shot and killed by a woman who was protecting her two small children early Sunday morning.

According to reports, Rheams broke into the Klein Road home armed with a a shovel and a lug wrench, when an altercation occurred with the female homeowner around 5 a.m. Sunday. At some point, the woman opened fire, fatally striking Rheams.
Rheams was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries at the scene.
Investigators later tied Rheams to an attempted carjacking hours prior.
No charges against the homeowner are expected to be filed.
