OCEAN COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Tyshaun Drummond of Toms River, New Jersey, has been identified as the suspect arrested in a grisly double-murder Sunday morning in Ocean County.

Drummond, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder after fatally shooting two men in the head in a Lakewood Township apartment building Sunday.

According to officials, Lakewood Township officers responded to a call of shots fired an apartment complex on River Avenue around 7:20 a.m. Sunday. Arriving officers were able to locate the man matching the description in the front of the complex.

Drummond refused to comply with police and as a result he was subdued by a department-issued Conducted Energy Device (CED).

Officers then made the discovery of two deceased men who suffered gunshot wounds to the head. Those men were later identified as Nicholas Hardy, 36, of Toms River, and Sergio Chavez-Perez, 32, of Lakewood.

Drummond was charged with two counts of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Burglary. Currently, he’s in custody at a nearby hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
