SHERMAN COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Kimball Hiner, of Elkhart, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Sherman County, TX on Sunday.

Hiner, 60, who was residing in Dumas, died after DPS officials say he fell asleep while operating a vehicle in Sherman County on Sunday.

According to DPS officials, Hiner was traveling north on FM 119 when he fell asleep after 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

His car then veered off to the west of the roadway, went airborne and crashed into the ground on its nose, reports NewsChannel10 Wednesday.

Hiner was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.

DPS officials said in a crash report that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to social media, Hiner works as a driller and is originally from Lawton, Oklahoma.
