WASHINGTON, DC. (THECOUNT) — Police have identified the two women struck and killed Wednesday night by a passenger bus as Monica Adams Carlson and 85-year-old Cora Louise Adams.
Carlson, 61, was the mayor of Skagway, an Alaskan town of about 1,000 people, about 100 miles north of Juno, reports say. Adams was Carlson’s mother, according to the outlet.

The pair were on foot when they were struck at the intersection of Seventh Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Wednesday night around 9:40 p.m.
The bus appeared to be a tour bus, with photos showing the words “Eyre Bus, Tour, Travel” printed on the side.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday night, the bus was traveling northbound on Seventh Street. The driver then made a left turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue, striking two women in the crosswalk, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The women suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital from the scene. Both women passed away. source
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating the crash, according to MPD.
