Everson Guild, a Grand Ledge High School student and a member of WKAR‘s “Curious Crew,” passed away suddenly on Monday.
Guild, an incoming High School freshman, “lost consciousness” during a voluntary football conditioning class on Monday morning. Superintendent Dr. Brian Metcalf said coaches immediately rushed to his side, performed CPR and used an automatic external defibrillator.

The young man was transported at an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Curious Crew show takes young people from the Michigan area and teaches them hands-on science, technology, engineering and math lessons during programs produced at WKAR.
Metcalf released a statement Monday confirming Guild’s untimely death.
“Words cannot begin to express our sorrow over the loss of this young man,” said Metcalf. “Our hearts go out to his family, his friends and his teammates and we will do everything within our power to ease their grief.”
Everson’s mother, Laura Guild, released this statement.
“The Guild family would like to thank the Grand Ledge community for their continued support through this difficult time. In honor of Everson, the family is requesting the community remember what Everson is about: love, compassion, caring, gratefulness, determination and generosity. We ask that each person try to exemplify one of these traits, in hopes of making the world a better place, as this is what Everson did on a daily basis.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
