Well-known Chicago rapper, Young Pappy, who had twice been the target of shootings last year, was shot and killed on a sidewalk in the Uptown district early Friday, cops said. He was only 20.
Pappy, whose real name was Shaquon Thomas, was found shot to death around 1:35 a.m. Reports say the rapper was with a friend when a gunman walked up and started shooting. Thomas’ friend was not hurt.
The shooting occurred in an area where three streets gangs have been feuding: Conservative Vice Lords, Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones. Police have said Thomas was a Gangster Disciple. Officers blocked off Kenmore Avenue north of Lawrence Avenue with yellow crime tape. Officers searched through the grass near the parkway trees, as well as the street and sidewalk close to the shooting. One officer placed an evidence marker in the grass along the sidewalk. h/t chicagotribune
