Christopher Delcid, a Chelsea Housing Authority maintenance worker, also was punched in the face and hit with a shoe and belt as punishment “for being bad,” said the boy. Police were called to the Extended Stay America hotel after Delcid’s sister called the front desk, alerting them to the alleged abuse. Arriving officers found the boy on a mattress on the floor in a corner of the room, the newspaper reported. Delcid, who is not the boy’s biological father, is being held on $250,000 cash bail after he was charged with assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury and child abandonment. source

Delcid, who is not the boy’s biological father, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A defense attorney said the boy’s injuries were from falls off playground equipment and striking his head on walls and furniture.

Officials are also seeking charges against the boy’s mother, Katherine Rodriguez, the newspaper reported.
