WAXAHACHIE, TX. (THECOUNT) — Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, of Waxahachie, Texas, is facing two counts of capital murder after authorities say she fatally shot her two sons Thursday morning inside their home in Ellis County, south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Ellis County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 4:13 a.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive after receiving a 911 call reporting an unknown emergency, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies entered the home and found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, of Waxahachie, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries, authorities said. The sheriff’s office is withholding the teenager’s identity.

Lemmon was also found at the residence with injuries described as non-life-threatening. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released into law enforcement custody.

Authorities said evidence recovered at the scene provided probable cause to identify Lemmon as the person responsible for shooting both victims. The circumstances that led to the shooting have not been released.

After receiving medical treatment, Lemmon was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie. She remains in custody on two counts of capital murder while awaiting arraignment. Bond had not been set as of the latest available information.

The sheriff’s office said the victims’ father has been notified of both deaths. Authorities continue to withhold the 15-year-old’s name.

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman offered condolences to the victims’ father, family members and loved ones following the shooting.

“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Norman said in a statement. “They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”

Waxahachie is the county seat of Ellis County in North Texas, approximately 30 miles south of downtown Dallas and part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
