SPARTANBURG, SC. (THECOUNT) — Taylor Gosnell, 35, of Cowpens, South Carolina, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after authorities say she attacked her two young children, ages three and six, at a Spartanburg County residence in South Carolina’s Upstate region.
Deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, to 1400 Bud Arthur Bridge Road in Cowpens to conduct a welfare check on the two children.

When deputies arrived, they found both children injured and home alone. Investigators said the children had suffered wounds apparently caused by a knife. Both were transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment and further evaluation.
The sheriff’s office initially said a parent had been detained for questioning while investigators worked to determine what had happened. No charges had been announced during the initial stages of the investigation.
Investigators later determined that during the night before deputies were alerted, Gosnell allegedly attacked both children using a knife and a blunt object. She was subsequently charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Both children remained hospitalized following the alleged attack. They were reported to be in stable condition and are expected to recover from their injuries.
Authorities have not publicly released the names of the children. Additional details about the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack remain limited as investigators continue working the case.
Gosnell was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Facility shortly before midnight Saturday, according to authorities.
She was scheduled to appear before a judge for a bond hearing at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility.
The sheriff’s office has not indicated that anyone other than Gosnell has been charged in connection with the incident. The investigation remains active, and authorities have said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Bud Arthur Bridge Road is located in Spartanburg County in the Upstate South Carolina region. The roadway runs through the Spartanburg area near Cowpens and Interstate 85, placing the incident within the broader Charlotte-to-Greenville corridor of the Carolinas. Spartanburg is approximately 30 miles northeast of Greenville and about 75 miles southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina.
