ANDERSON COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Jacob Chase Scroggins, 26, of Belton, South Carolina, has been identified as the man killed Saturday evening in a motorcycle crash on River Road in Anderson County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 10:10 p.m. on River Road near Tall Oaks Circle in Piedmont.

Troopers said Scroggins was riding a Honda motorcycle when the bike traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Scroggins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased rider as Scroggins, of Belton. The coroner’s office ruled his death accidental.
The circumstances surrounding why the motorcycle left the roadway remain under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
No additional information about the crash was immediately released.
River Road is located in Anderson County in the Upstate region of South Carolina, near Belton and approximately 30 miles southwest of Greenville.
