PARMER COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Timothy James Holst, 59, of Rowley, Iowa, has been identified as the man who died Wednesday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash in Parmer County, Texas, involving two tractor-trailers and a Ford SUV, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, at the intersection of State Highway 86 and State Highway 214. The crash left one person dead and two others injured, authorities said.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Holst was driving a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer northbound on SH 214. A 2019 Mack truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling southbound on SH 214, while a 2015 Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on SH 86.
Investigators said the Ford Expedition’s driver failed to yield the right of way at the stop intersection and struck the Mack truck.
The impact forced the Mack truck across the northbound lanes, where it collided with the Freightliner carrying Holst. Following the collision, the Mack truck’s semi-trailer detached and came to rest on top of the Freightliner.
Holst suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The report did not indicate whether he was trapped inside the Freightliner or provide additional details about the circumstances of his death.
The driver of the Ford Expedition was identified as Shayanne Marie Clover, 30, of Garden City, Kansas. Clover suffered serious injuries and was transported to Parmer County Community Hospital. She was scheduled to be airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock once weather conditions cleared, according to the preliminary report.
The Mack truck’s driver, Jose Omar Cano, 51, of Olton, Texas, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Parmer County Community Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred under cloudy weather conditions on wet pavement in an area with a posted speed limit of 75 mph. Authorities have not said whether the weather or road conditions contributed to the collision.
The Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash. The preliminary report does not identify any citations or criminal charges related to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators will continue reviewing the sequence of impacts, the failure-to-yield allegation, road conditions, and the circumstances surrounding the detached semi-trailer that landed on the Freightliner.
Parmer County is located in the Texas Panhandle along the New Mexico state line. The rural county is part of the Texas Panhandle region, west of Amarillo and near the communities of Friona, Bovina, and Farwell.
