EASTON, MA. (THECOUNT) — Danidelson Monteiro, 34, of Brockton, Massachusetts, has been identified as the man killed Wednesday evening when the work van he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 138 in Easton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, near 676 Turnpike Street, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Police responding to the scene found a work-style van fully engulfed in flames following the collision. Monteiro was the sole occupant of the van and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The tractor-trailer was also damaged in the crash, with damage reported to its front end. The truck’s operator and sole occupant survived the collision but was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.
Investigators subsequently located Monteiro, the van’s single occupant, who was pronounced dead.
The circumstances leading to the collision, including the sequence of events involving the van and tractor-trailer, remained under investigation. Authorities had not released additional information regarding the cause of the crash or whether any citations or charges were anticipated.
Turnpike Street, also designated as Route 138, was closed from Foundry Street to the Raynham town line while police investigated the scene. Officials asked residents and motorists to avoid the affected area during the closure.
The crash occurred on the Easton section of Route 138, a roadway connecting communities in Bristol County and the surrounding southeastern Massachusetts region. Easton is located south of Boston and north of Taunton, with the crash scene near the town’s southern boundary and the Raynham line.
Additional information about the investigation and the tractor-trailer operator’s condition had not been released by the district attorney’s office as of Thursday morning.
