EAST HARTFORD, CT. (THECOUNT) — Gregory M. Allen, 55, of Manchester, Connecticut, has been identified as the man who died after his vehicle left Interstate 84 and rolled near Exit 57 in East Hartford Wednesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:21 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, in the area of the Exit 57 off-ramp from westbound I-84 to Route 5/15 south, police said in a crash report released Thursday morning.

According to authorities, Allen was driving a 2003 Honda CR-V westbound on Interstate 84 when, for reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle entered the gore area of the off-ramp.
The Honda struck an exit sign before rolling and coming to an uncontrolled stop in the grass, according to the state police report.
Allen suffered serious injuries in the collision. Emergency personnel transported him by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, state police said.
Authorities have not released additional information about what caused the Honda to leave the travel lanes and enter the ramp’s gore area. Investigators have not indicated whether speed, weather, a medical emergency, mechanical failure, or another factor contributed to the crash.
The collision also damaged the Exit 57 off-ramp sign and approximately 20 feet of metal beam guardrail, according to the crash report. The extent of the damage to the Honda has not been disclosed.
The investigation remains active. Connecticut State Police have not announced any citations or criminal charges in connection with the crash.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or was traveling near westbound I-84 and Exit 57 around the time of the crash to come forward. Police are particularly seeking anyone who may have captured the incident or the moments leading up to it on a dashboard camera.
