TRUMBULL, CT. (THECOUNT) — Ronald “Ron” Champlin, 53, of Bridgeport, has been charged with attempted murder after police say he seriously injured his girlfriend during a domestic violence assault that continued for approximately two days in Trumbull, Connecticut.
Trumbull police said officers responded Tuesday afternoon to a residence on Palomino Pass following a 911 call from the victim, who screamed that she needed help. Dispatchers reportedly heard a physical altercation taking place in the background of the call.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the woman seriously injured inside the residence. Champlin was still at the scene and was taken into custody by responding officers, according to the Trumbull Police Department.
Investigators said their preliminary investigation indicated that Champlin had repeatedly threatened and physically abused the victim over approximately two days. Police said the woman sustained serious injuries to her face, body and extremities.
Trumbull EMS transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Authorities have not publicly released her identity or provided a detailed update on her medical condition.
Champlin was also transported to a hospital for treatment of a laceration to his hand, police said. The circumstances surrounding that injury have not been fully detailed in the information released by authorities.
Champlin was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, along with other domestic violence-related offenses. He was being held on a $2 million bond pending arraignment in Bridgeport Superior Court on Wednesday, September 23.
According to Facebook, Champlin is the co-owner of Creative Instinkts Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio, a Connecticut tattoo and piercing business he opened with his wife, Pinky Champlin, in 1999. The business operates locations in Bridgeport, Milford and Shelton, according to its official website.
The attempted murder charge is an allegation, and Champlin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The specific additional domestic violence charges were not identified in the supplied police announcement.
