NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — Patrick Clancy and his new wife, Rachel Danis, are expecting their first child together, years after Clancy lost his three children in the case involving his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, who was accused of killing the children in January 2023.
The pregnancy confirmation came Monday when “60 Minutes” correspondent Ross Douthat appeared on “CBS Mornings” and clarified comments made during the couple’s interview, which aired Sunday. Asked about the couple’s plans to start a family, Douthat confirmed that they are having a child.

Clancy and Danis appeared together on “60 Minutes” to discuss their relationship, the deaths of Clancy’s three children and the intense public attention surrounding Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial, which ended in a mistrial earlier this month.
During the interview, Douthat referenced the couple starting a family. Clancy then discussed how he would talk to future children about their late siblings, Cora, Dawson and Callan.
“I think every parent can agree, you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids,” Clancy said during the interview. “And I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister.”
The comments came as Clancy continued discussing the grief surrounding the deaths of his three children. Cora, Dawson and Callan died in January 2023 in the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home. Lindsay Clancy was charged in connection with their deaths and pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.
The criminal case ended in a mistrial in early September after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will seek a retrial.
Clancy also described the final moments of his youngest child, Callan, during the “60 Minutes” interview. He said he held his son in his arms as the child took his final breaths and recalled telling him he was sorry.
The interview marked Clancy’s first major televised appearance since the trial and focused on his grief, his efforts to rebuild his life and the public scrutiny surrounding the case. Danis also discussed her relationship with Clancy and defended him amid criticism and online speculation about their marriage.
Clancy and Danis met in New York after the deaths of his children and married earlier this year. Danis is a reproductive-medicine specialist. The couple’s announcement represents a new chapter in their relationship while Clancy continues to remember the three children he lost.
Clancy has previously spoken about his desire to preserve the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan. His comments during the interview indicated that he intends to tell their future sibling about them and keep their place in his family’s history.
The couple has not publicly disclosed additional details about the pregnancy, including a due date.
