FLORENCE, KY. (THECOUNT) — Troy Cherry, 52, of Walton, Kentucky, has been identified as the man who died Monday morning after his motorcycle crashed into a utility pole in Florence, Kentucky, according to the Florence Police Department.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1:37 a.m. Monday on Burlington Pike near Cavalier Boulevard in Florence.

According to police, a preliminary investigation determined that Cherry was operating a motorcycle when he lost control. The motorcycle subsequently left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Florence EMS responded to the crash and transported Cherry to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Police have not released additional details about what caused Cherry to lose control of the motorcycle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Florence police said alcohol may have been a contributing factor, but authorities have not announced any final determination regarding impairment.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the overnight crash. Additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
