LAS VEGAS, NV. (THECOUNT)Rick Harrison, the longtime star of the History Channel reality series “Pawn Stars,” is recovering after doctors discovered he needed emergency bypass surgery during what was expected to be a simpler heart procedure, according to his family spokesperson.

Harrison, 61, underwent the surgery Friday after initially going to the hospital for a procedure that was not expected to require major surgery. Doctors discovered a more serious issue and determined that a bypass was necessary.

“He went in for a simpler procedure and they found he needed a bypass,” a representative for Harrison told Entertainment Weekly and other outlets. “He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery.”

The representative said Harrison is grateful to the doctors and hospital staff treating him and that his wife, Agripina “Angie” Polushkin, and other family members have been with him during his recovery.

The nature of the underlying medical issue that led doctors to perform the bypass has not been publicly disclosed. The family has not announced how extensive the surgery was or when Harrison is expected to leave the hospital.

Harrison had remained active on social media in the days leading up to the surgery, including promoting products and interacting with followers.

Harrison has been a central figure on “Pawn Stars” since the series premiered in 2009. The program follows Harrison and his family as they operate the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, where customers bring in a wide range of collectibles, antiques and unusual items for appraisal and potential sale.

The series remains one of the History Channel’s best-known reality programs and is currently in its 24th season.

Harrison has also made headlines throughout 2026 for developments in his personal life. He married Angie Polushkin in January in Las Vegas, with the couple later holding a second wedding celebration at the Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun.

Harrison’s son, Corey Harrison, who is also featured on “Pawn Stars,” was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash earlier this year. Corey suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized, causing him to miss his father’s Las Vegas wedding. A GoFundMe campaign was subsequently established to help with his medical expenses, which became the subject of a public dispute between father and son.

Rick Harrison has continued to be involved with the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop and remains one of the most recognizable personalities associated with the History Channel.

Las Vegas, Nevada, is the largest city in Nevada and the center of the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Harrison’s Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, made famous by “Pawn Stars,” is located on Las Vegas Boulevard in the city’s downtown area.
