DELMAR, DE. (THECOUNT)Hilary Brooks, 36, and her daughter, Mia Brooks, 11, of Delmar, Delaware, have been identified as the victims who died Saturday in a fatal motorcycle crash in Delmar, according to Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. Aug. 29 on Whitesville Road west of Robin Hood Road, according to the preliminary investigation.

Police said Brooks was operating a Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Whitesville Road with Mia as a passenger. At the same time, a Ford F-650 rollback truck was traveling in the same direction ahead of the motorcycle, with a Dodge Dakota also traveling ahead of the motorcycle.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle passed the Dodge in a no-passing zone and then struck the driver’s side of the rollback truck as the truck was making a left turn into a private driveway. Both people on the motorcycle were ejected.

Brooks was transported to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Mia was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old Laurel man driving the Ford F-650 was not injured.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while troopers investigated and cleared the crash.

Delmar is located in Sussex County in southern Delaware, near the Maryland state line and approximately 25 miles west of Rehoboth Beach.
