MI Woman Amy Beason ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Monroe Double-Fatal Crash Involving Child

RAISINVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI. (THECOUNT)Amy Michelle Beason, 56, of Monroe, Michigan, and a 10-year-old girl were killed Wednesday evening in a three-vehicle crash on South Custer Road (M-50) in Raisinville Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The relationship between Beason and the child has not been released.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:12 p.m. Wednesday on South Custer Road (M-50), west of Plum Grove Drive in Monroe.

According to investigators, Beason was operating a Honda HR-V and attempting to turn left into a residential driveway on the south side of the roadway when a westbound Ford F-150, driven by a 38-year-old Dundee man, struck the rear of her SUV.

The impact pushed the Honda into the eastbound lane, where it collided with an oncoming Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 61-year-old man from Montgomery, Texas, authorities said. The Honda and Chevrolet came to rest on the eastbound shoulder, while the Ford stopped on the westbound shoulder.

Beason and the 10-year-old girl suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s officials said neither occupant of the Honda was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, with serious injuries. Three passengers traveling with him—a 59-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, all sharing his surname—were also hospitalized. Authorities said the driver and the 59-year-old passenger were wearing seatbelts, while the two younger rear-seat passengers were not.

The 38-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Investigators said airbags deployed in all three vehicles involved in the collision.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.

Raisinville Township is located in Monroe County in southeastern Michigan, approximately 10 miles northwest of Monroe and near the Ohio state line.
