RICHMOND COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT)James Randolph Laws Sr., 70, of Farnham, Virginia, died Wednesday after the Chevrolet Impala he was driving collided head-on with a Dodge Charger on Richmond Road in Warsaw, Richmond County, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities said the driver of the Dodge Charger suffered minor injuries.

Richmond County is located in Virginia’s Northern Neck region, east of Fredericksburg and bordered by the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay. The fatal collision occurred in the 5000 block of Richmond Road (Route 360), east of Meadowbrook Road.

Virginia State Police responded to the scene at approximately 5:39 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2005 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on Richmond Road at what troopers described as a high rate of speed when it crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane.

Authorities said the Impala then collided head-on with an eastbound 2014 Dodge Charger.

Laws sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Charger suffered minor injuries but declined transportation to a medical facility, according to state police.

Virginia State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No additional information has been released regarding possible contributing factors beyond the preliminary findings.
