ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Michael Wade, 15, of Brighton Heights, was killed Thursday night after being struck in a pedestrian crash on McKnight Road in Ross Township, according to police. The driver involved remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and showed no signs of intoxication, authorities said.
Ross Township is located in Allegheny County in western Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh in the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. McKnight Road is a major commercial and commuter corridor serving communities throughout the northern Pittsburgh region.

The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday on McKnight Road between Seibert Road and Patrick Place, according to authorities. The roadway was closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators worked to process the scene.
Emergency responders transported Wade to a nearby hospital following the collision, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Ross Township Police Department later confirmed that its crash reconstruction team would investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officials have not released additional details about how the crash occurred.
Police told KDKA-TV on Friday morning that no charges are expected at this time. Investigators said the driver involved in the crash was cooperative and did not display any indications of impairment.
During the initial response Thursday night, KDKA-TV crews at the scene observed at least one person being taken away in a police vehicle. Authorities have not released information regarding that individual or the reason for the police transport.
The investigation remains ongoing as the Ross Township Police Department’s crash reconstruction team reviews evidence and determines the full circumstances leading to the fatal collision.
