SPRING TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — James Snyder Jr., 28, of Millerstown, Pennsylvania, was killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash involving a passenger vehicle on Shermans Valley Road in Perry County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Spring Township is located in Perry County in south-central Pennsylvania, northwest of Harrisburg. The fatal collision occurred in the 1700 block of Shermans Valley Road.

Pennsylvania State Police said troopers responded to the crash scene at approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger car.
According to the preliminary investigation, Snyder was operating a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Shermans Valley Road when he approached a curve in the roadway.
Investigators said the motorcycle failed to negotiate the curve and traveled off the roadway into an embankment.
Police reported that Snyder subsequently attempted to return to the roadway but lost control of the motorcycle.
As the motorcycle re-entered the roadway, it was sideswiped by a westbound Honda Civic, according to troopers.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Snyder sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Authorities said Snyder was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Honda Civic suffered what police described as suspected minor injuries and was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital for treatment.
Troopers said both the motorcycle and the Honda sustained damage in the collision and were removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Investigators have not released additional details regarding contributing factors as the crash investigation remains active.
The Pennsylvania State Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
