WOODBRIDGE, VA. (THECOUNT) — Michael Layne Hall, 36, of Woodbridge, Virginia, died following a motorcycle crash late Saturday night on Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Authorities said Hall lost control of the motorcycle before striking a traffic sign and guardrail.
Woodbridge is located in Prince William County in Northern Virginia, approximately 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. The fatal crash occurred on the eastbound lanes of Old Bridge Road near Colby Drive.

Prince William County Police officers responded to the scene shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a serious motorcycle collision.
According to investigators, Hall was operating a 2014 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle eastbound on Old Bridge Road as he approached the area of Colby Drive.
Police said the rider attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway when the motorcycle crossed into the median.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle then struck a traffic sign before colliding with a guardrail.
Emergency responders provided aid at the scene before Hall was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials said Hall later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Preliminary findings released by investigators indicate speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the collision.
The Prince William County Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
