KANSAS CITY, Mo. (THECOUNT) —Jackson Georgari, 10, was found dead in a pond near Briarcliff Village in Kansas City on Thursday afternoon. Police said Georgari had a documented history of sleepwalking.

Georgari was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Kansas City Police Department, officers responded to the area around 12:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a child in the water. First responders removed the boy from the pond and attempted life-saving measures, but he was declared dead at the scene.

His family reported that he had wandered away from home during the night. The pond where his body was located is approximately one mile from his residence.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene. The Kansas City Police Department has classified the case as an active death investigation. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Briarcliff Village is a residential area located in the Northland region of Kansas City, Missouri. The pond is situated near several homes and local roads in the community.

The Kansas City Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding how Georgari entered the water. Officers are working to piece together a timeline of events from the previous night through Thursday afternoon.
