ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN. (THECOUNT) — Zander Leroy Hamlin, of Duluth Township, Minnesota, was killed Wednesday night after the vehicle he was operating left the roadway and crashed into a tree in St. Louis County, located in northeastern Minnesota along the Lake Superior shoreline.
Hamlin was 24.

According to authorities, the fatal single-vehicle crash occurred in the 6500 block of Homestead Road in Duluth Township.
Investigators said Hamlin was traveling northbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree in a roadside ditch.
After the initial impact, the vehicle re-entered the roadway, spun several times, and came to rest in the middle of the road.
First responders attempted life-saving measures, however, Hamlin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe excessive speed was a contributing factor in the fatal crash.
Duluth Township is located in St. Louis County in northeastern Minnesota, just northeast of the city of Duluth along Minnesota’s North Shore region.
The Duluth Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, and Lake County Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation.
