OH Man William Huntington ID’d As Victim In Friday Darke County Fatal Harley Crash Involving Deer

DARKE COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — William Huntington, 57, of Ansonia, Ohio, has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash involving a deer Friday night in Darke County, a western Ohio county near the Indiana border.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 11:17 p.m. on June 12 to the 7200 block of North Star-Fort Loramie Road following reports of an injury crash.

Emergency responders from Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire Department, and CareFlight also responded to the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate Huntington was operating a black 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on North Star-Fort Loramie Road when he struck a deer in the roadway.

Authorities said Huntington was ejected from the motorcycle during the collision.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Darke County is located in western Ohio along the Indiana state line and is part of a largely rural region connected by county and state highways that serve agricultural communities throughout the Midwest.

Greenville, where Huntington resided, is the county seat of Darke County and is situated approximately 35 miles northwest of Dayton.

North Star-Fort Loramie Road runs through rural portions of Darke County and Shelby County and is frequently traveled by local residents, agricultural traffic, and recreational motorists.

The Darke County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.

Members of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team also processed the scene and gathered evidence.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
