MA Man Sean Brewer Charged In Fatal Sunday Winthrop Shooting Of Wife Jacklyn Berry

WINTHROP, MA. (THECOUNT) — Sean Brewer, 58, of Winthrop, Massachusetts, has been charged with manslaughter following the fatal shooting of his wife, Jacklyn Berry, 47, at the couple’s Beacon Street residence Sunday morning, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said multiple 911 callers reported a disturbance around 8:35 a.m. Sunday at 26 Beacon Street in Winthrop.

According to Winthrop police, callers reported hearing an argument and indicated that a firearm may have been involved.

First responders arriving at the residence discovered Berry suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel rendered medical aid at the scene before transporting Berry by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said Berry later died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Brewer was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

Authorities said Brewer has been charged with manslaughter.

Investigators have not yet released additional details regarding the events leading up to the shooting.

Police activity remained concentrated around the Beacon Street neighborhood Sunday as investigators processed evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Winthrop is a coastal community located northeast of downtown Boston and is connected to the city through neighboring East Boston.

Officials said Brewer is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in East Boston Boston Municipal Court.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office indicated additional information is expected to be presented during the arraignment proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing.
