Peggy Sims ID’d As Passenger In Sunday Ohio Fatal Can-Am Spyder Motorcycle Crash

KINGSTON, OH. (THECOUNT) — Peggy Sims was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash involving a pickup truck in Pickaway County, Ohio, according to authorities.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:51 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the intersection of State Route 159 and Kingston Adelphi Road in Kingston, a village located between Circleville and Chillicothe in south-central Ohio.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Kingston Adelphi Road at the time of the crash.

Investigators said the pickup truck failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection and entered the path of a southbound 2023 CAN-AM Spyder motorcycle traveling on State Route 159.

Authorities stated the Silverado collided with the motorcycle, causing both the operator and passenger to be thrown onto the roadway.

Sims, who was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries in the crash.

She was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The operator of the motorcycle suffered critical injuries and remained in critical condition following the collision, according to reports.

Authorities have not publicly released the identity of the motorcycle operator.

The crash prompted a significant emergency response Sunday afternoon as troopers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and crash investigators secured the intersection and documented evidence at the scene.

Traffic in the area of State Route 159 and Kingston Adelphi Road was affected while emergency crews investigated and cleared the wreckage.

Officials have not released information regarding possible charges in connection with the crash.

Investigators also have not stated whether impairment, distraction, speed, or other contributing factors may have played a role.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision.

Motorcycle crashes involving intersection right-of-way violations remain a major source of serious and fatal roadway injuries nationwide.

Authorities have not announced when additional findings related to the crash may become available.
