BEDFORD TWP, MI. (THECOUNT) — Clayton Devol, 48, of Temperance, Michigan, was killed Saturday night after an off-road motorcycle collided with an SUV at an intersection in Bedford Township near the Ohio border, according to authorities.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the intersection of Secor Road and St. Anthony Road in Monroe County, located in southeastern Michigan south of Detroit.

According to investigators, a 68-year-old driver operating an SUV entered the intersection from Secor Road and attempted to turn west onto St. Anthony Road.
Authorities said the SUV was then struck by an off-road motorcycle operated by Devol.
Investigators reported that the impact threw Devol from the motorcycle before the bike caught fire.
Devol was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Investigators also stated the motorcycle did not have a headlight and was not authorized for roadway use.
According to officials, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The driver of the SUV was not injured and was released at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly released the name of the SUV driver.
The collision prompted a significant emergency response Saturday night as deputies and emergency personnel secured the intersection and investigated the fatal crash scene.
Traffic in the area of Secor Road and St. Anthony Road was affected during the on-scene investigation and cleanup operations.
The crash remains under investigation by Lieutenant Brian Quinn and Deputy Sheriffs Cody Carena and Hunter Chirillo of the Traffic Services Division.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has additional information about the incident to contact investigators at 734-240-7548.

Officials have not announced whether any charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
