NJ Pair Angel Roque & Lizvette Alvarado ID’d As Victims In Tuesday Double-Fatal Crash

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (THECOUNT) — Angel Roque, 25, of Camden, New Jersey, and Lizvette Alvarado, 18, of Paulsboro, New Jersey, were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 76 late Tuesday night, according to New Jersey State Police. Authorities reported that the vehicle left the highway, struck snow and ice, and collided with a guardrail, a light pole, and a wall.

State Police said the crash occurred near milepost 1.2 while the car was traveling northbound on I-76, approximately one mile from the Walt Whitman Bridge. Preliminary reports indicate that Roque, the driver, lost control of the vehicle before it went airborne and left the roadway. Both occupants were ejected from the car and pronounced deceased at the scene.

New Jersey State Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Troopers are examining the circumstances that contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway, including road conditions and vehicle speed. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash.

The Gloucester City Police Department, emergency medical services, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation assisted State Police at the scene. The highway was temporarily closed to allow investigators to conduct a thorough examination of the crash site and clear debris from the roadway.

Angel Roque was identified as a resident of Camden, New Jersey, and the driver of the vehicle. State Police confirmed he was operating the car at the time of the crash. Lizvette Alvarado, an 18-year-old passenger from Paulsboro, New Jersey, was also ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the cause of the crash, possible impairment, or other contributing factors. The official investigation by New Jersey State Police is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.

This incident marks a two-fatality crash on I-76 in Gloucester City within the past year. State Police remind motorists to exercise caution on roadways during winter conditions and to remain attentive to changing weather and road surfaces.
